Jurassic Park-themed Husky halftime show

Community relations, Social Media, video

The Husky Marching Band approached the Burke about partnering on a Jurassic Park-themed halftime show at the October 20, 2018, Husky Football homecoming game and we immediately said yes!

Leading up to the big day, I shot, produced and edited a video featuring former UW Football star Lavon Coleman (with the Seahawks at that time) and paleontologist Jack Horner of Jurassic Park. I also partnered with the Band to do social media shoutouts and sneak peeks to build excitement leading up to game day.

The short video was broadcast on the Husky Stadium jumbotron to kickoff the Marching Band’s halftime show and we were able to bring a group of Burke Museum VIPs down to the field—including the two Burke volunteers who discovered the T. rex—for an on-camera shout out.

I shared to the Burke’s social media accounts throughout the day and received great responses from Husky fans and non-fans alike.

There were 68,798 people in attendance for the Colorado vs. Washington game that day, so we were pretty thrilled about the reach! Hundreds of people stopped by our booth and said they learned something new about the Burke and were excited for our Grand Opening.

(And the Huskies won!)
